Looking for some advice...?

Someone looking to "get out and meet other people" often has felt they've put in too much time into one person when all the effort was for naught. Keep in close contact with him, maybe go on a few dates yourself, but don't fall off his radar. It sounds to me that he's not so much angry at you as much as he is tired of waiting for it to become possible to date you. So make sure that he knows what your situation is and vice versa should the planets ever align for your paths to cross again.
